Religion: Kindergarteners gain spiritual enrichment through catholic beliefs which include: daily prayer, daily lessons, mass, community service projects and prayer services.
Language and Literacy Development: Kindergarteners experience language through communication and phonics which includes: reading, writing, listening and speaking. Phonics is taught through a phono-visual, tactile, kinesthetic approach using Zoophonics. Reading and writing readiness will be introduced and integrated through themes, letter of the week and six trait writing.
Mathematics: Kindergarteners will construct meaning in mathematics through many hands on experiences. Concepts explored include; numbers (recognition 0-10, Counting 0-20, writing 0-20), graphing, shapes, spatial concepts, problem solving, time, money, patterns and computers.
Science: Kindergarteners explore science principals in the areas of life science, physical science, earth science, nutrition and hygine. Specific units include living/ nonliving, zoo animals, seasons and weather, 5 senses and magnets.
Social Studies: Kindergarteners will develop an appreciation and understanding of self and others. They gain a better understanding of the diversity of our culture. Safety is also included in this curriculum. Topics include; Thanksgiving, Presidents (current, Washington and Lincoln), Christmas, peacemakers, families, flags and class rules.
Fine Arts: Kindergarteners express their creativity through singing, movement, and art. Kindergarteners paint, sculpt, draw, cut, paste, build and create. The elements of color, texture and line are introduced. They also study styles of literature illustrators, the artist: Sonia Delaunay, Cezanne and the Chinese cultural art suitcase.
