Curriculum

Grades 1-5

Assumption Catholic School educates the whole student – spiritually, academically, physically, socially and emotionally. The school also covers the fine arts. Assumption’s students use a basal approach to reading, incorporating phonics, spelling and writing in an integrated and logical format throughout primary grades. As the students approach the intermediate grades the format centers on literature circles, writing in all of the genres, and utilization of the language arts skills throughout the disciplines. Math focuses on the basic facts and operations and broadens our to problem solving strategies that give the performance levels necessary to do higher math.

Specialists include music, band, physical education and library media center. Students have after-school options of tutoring, chess club, Japanese club, technology, library skills, and Math Olympiad. All students have religion class daily, attend Mass weekly, and participate in service learning projects.
