Religion/Homeroom

 Eighth Grade Homeroom

Teacher, Supervisor: Betsy Gottschalk

Content: During the school year we will focus on faith as well as prayer life through personal prayer, group prayer, liturgies at Mass and prayer services. We will also look at the choices that we make in the context of our Christianity and our relationship with and responsibility to each other.

Service Hours: Twelve service hours are required each trimester. The students must have the signature of parents and/or supervisors of the unpaid service time.

Class Service: We will choose a class service project from the Corporal Works of Mercy (feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, clothe the naked, shelter the homeless, visit the sick, visit the imprisoned, bury the dead). Eighth graders are often asked to perform service for other classes or the school community in general, such as tutoring younger students, fetching the mail, and many other services.

Class Meetings: Our class meetings take place during religion/homeroom time. We address issues concerning eighth graders during these meetings.

Grading: Behavior and participation will be averaged for your grade.
