Book Reports for the 2007-2008 School Year

This year there will be 2 different types of book reports that you need to do each trimester. This is what I expect from each type of report. There are rubrics for each report attached.

Written Book Report

This is a 5 paragraph essay format. You need to have an introductory paragraph that tells me what the book is and who the author is. It needs to also outline the rest of the paper.

Next, you need to have 3 body paragraphs. These paragraphs are the summary of the paper. In the first paragraph you need to talk about the beginning portion of the book. Next you need to talk about the middle portion of the book. In the last body paragraph, you need to tell me about the ending. Please keep in mind that I am not looking for you to retell the whole story to me. Your body paragraphs should be no more that 6 sentences each!

Your last paragraph is going to be your conclusion. In this paragraph, you need to very briefly state what your paper was about. You also need to give me your personal thoughts about the book.

With this report, you need to include an outline and an edited rough draft. The final paper needs to be typed!

Visual Book Report

With this book report you must create some kind of display that represents the book. This might be as a drawing, a sculpture, poster, or any other way that you choose to represent the book.

To go along with this type of report, you need to include a typed 2 paragraph explanation of what your display means and how it connects with the book. You must also tell me what you thought of the book. Make sure that you tell me what the book it is your reporting on and the author. You need to include you prewriting as well.
