Literature Seventh Grade
Rebecca Doumit Instructor
Independent Reading :
Read 200 pages per week. If this is too much for you, then you need to read at least 45 minutes each night for a total of 225 minutes . Read fiction or non-fiction. Read books with a story to them. You will be filling out a journal each Friday on what you read for the week.
After you finish the book, you will report on it. You may choose from a variety of ways to report on the book. You must alternate visual, written or dramatic methods of reporting. You will have 3 book reports due each quarter.
Literature Circles (book clubs)
Literature circle sessions are a chance to discuss books in depth. We'll gather in small groups at least once per week during the time we are discussing the group's book. You will be responsible to come with notes about what you read, so that you will be able to contribute to the discussion. You also need to bring the book we are discussing and you do need to talk about the book when we are meeting.
Literature Books
Though out the year, we will be reading excerpts from the Prentice Hall Literature books. When we read from these books there will also be work that is to be completed by you. There will also be quizzes about what we read.
I will read books and poetry aloud to you also.
